As I made my way into the Chicagoland area from Denver, I was lucky enough to connect with Kassidy of Kassidy Ilayne Studios. She asked if I was available to photograph this wedding day with her at Penthouse Hyde Park and I was so honored to be a part of it.
Marina and Sharpe had one of the most beautiful celebrations; overflowing with laughter, love, tears and the support of their families. Their blue and white color scheme was evident throughout the day, including even Sharpe’s Jimmy Choo cologne. I loved the inscription inside Sharpe’s ring, notating their wedding day forever. Marina’s closest family and friends were all asked to wear blue, a modern nod to “something blue”. She was surrounded with her “something blue” all day.
We made our way from the Claridge House Hotel to their first look. I can’t recommend a first look enough for my couples and if you’re concerned at all about not have an emotional moment with your partner, please scroll down to see Sharpe’s reaction when he saw his bride. It was so heartwarming and his tears quickly turned to giggles as they both realized the excitement in the moment. Following some portraits, we made our way to St. Michaels Church in Old Town, one of the most stunning churches I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph.
The Penthouse Hyde Park greeted us warmly after church. The soaring ceilings and classic black and white floor was a gorgeous backdrop for the fantastic blue and white florals that adorned every table. The tablescapes were beautifully done, classically blue with a modern twist. I think my jaw may have literally dropped when I walked in.
Marina and Sharpe shared a father-daughter dance and mother-son dance to start the evening, and I loved how their guests looked on with admiration. The party started after that and by the time we left, it was hard to find Marina and Sharpe to say goodbye as the dance floor was hopping. It was the perfect ending to a lovely day. Mr and Mrs Marshall, cheers to a beautiful forever.
