Hi, I'm MELISSA!

Glenna + Travis | Boulders at Black Canyon Inn Wedding | Estes Park Wedding Photographer

Mar 17, 2023

The snow fell lightly as Glenna and Travis got ready for their beautiful wedding day. The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn was the perfect backdrop for their nuptials. As the day went on, the snow and wind picked up, but the amazing views didn’t waver from inside the beautiful ceremony site! I love that the doors at the Black Canyon Inn open wide so your ceremony is completely customizable. The weather was just good enough that Glenna walked down the aisle to a beautiful breeze. A few minutes in, the Colorado weather had a cold surprise, so the doors easily shut. Two ceremony looks in one!

I started the day by photographing both Glenna and Travis’ details. I love the thought they put into their pieces and their square, foldable invitation was so unique! I could hear the girls’ laughter throughout the whole venue as the champagne flowed and Glenna completed final hair and makeup touchups. Travis and his guys made their way over through the snow to the warm-lit venue for a few final touches before we drove down to the first look site.

Huge props to Glenna for braving the cold and snow for their first look and some gorgeous portraits. I don’t think I’ve ever had a background change as quickly as it did for these two. One minute Lumpy Ridge was in plain sight and then obscured by blowing snow and clouds…back and forth, back and forth! We caught a little bit of sun on our way in and I’m so glad Travis and Glenna were cool stopping for a few portraits.

We took a few more pictures in the gorgeous ceremony space and then the wedding part hid away and guests began to arrive; mingling, hugging and rubbing their hands together in the warmth. The quartet began to play and Glenna and Travis because husband and wife in a gorgeous ceremony surrounded by the mountains of Colorado. I always ask my couples to stop as they come down the aisle and share a kiss, but Mr. and Mrs. Aluise stopped without me even having to ask. It was one of my favorite pictures of the day!

Dinner was delicious, followed by a romantic and emotional first dance and cake cutting. Then the party started! It hadn’t slowed down one bit by the time we left and I’m sure it just continued way into the evening with the snow falling softly around the venue. Estes Park, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, is one of my favorite spots in the world and I’m so glad Glenna and Travis picked it for their wedding.

Thank you for choosing me to document your beautiful wedding day. I wish you both nothing but continued adventures and love!
