As a wedding photographer in Denver, I serve clients from all over the state of Colorado as well as those that come to Colorado just to get married! I was lucky enough to meet Jessi & Matt this past weekend, who traveled all the way from a suburb outside of Dallas, Texas for their wedding day. They brought their closest friends and family and had a beautiful celebration at the Historic Morrison Church followed by an intimate and loving reception at Hotel Teatro in the heart of downtown Denver.
As you can imagine, coming to Colorado from Texas in the middle of January may be quite the risk for a Texan from a weather perspective but Jessi & Matt got so lucky – they had the most beautiful winter Colorado day! We saw highs in the low 50’s and sun all day. Luckily nobody got sunburnt! And after ten years of living in Denver, I finally remembered to reapply my sunscreen through the day so I didn’t turn into a tomato the next day. That’s a wedding day first!
P.S. Wedding photographers, this is the sunscreen that I use. I love it!
Jessi and Matt had self-proclaimed “nerd” wedding, but in a subtle and modern way, which was so perfect for them. Jessi teaches literacy and loves reading, so you can see a nod to her love for books throughout the decorations. Matt, a huge Zelda fan, had an awesome tie clip as a reference. Other elements popped up throughout the day including a nod to the famous Harry Potter line, “Always”, in their ceremony. Matt even had the word sewn into his suit jacket by Indochino. Such a cool touch!
These two were surrounded by the most kind and supportive friends and family. The love and joy for this couple was palpable and so easy to capture. With only thirty people total in attendance, Matt & Jessi enjoyed spending quality time with each and every one of their guests.
I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I loved documenting their day. Matt and Jessi, congratulations on your marriage and I hope you enjoyed your Colorado honeymoon before heading back to Texas!
